Autumn Art Exhibition 2025

We’re finally getting over the excitement of our Autumn Exhibition, which was very successful.  Our very hardworking committee and a group of non-member volunteers started very early in the morning, to erect the screens, cables and hooks in preparation for hanging of the exhibition.  Following the quite smooth delivery of paintings by the artists, the paintings were then curated by our very experienced curators, Heather and Hilary Macorison, resulting in a beautifully displayed exhibition.  It must be noted, however, while the majority of artists presented their paintings so they could easily be hung, using the D-rings, there were still a couple of people who need to read the instructions more thoroughly.

The Opening Night, with Simon Marnie, was fantastic!  We had over 100people viewing the paintings and enjoying a glass (or two!) of wine, who listened intently to Simon as he spoke, a little, of the history of the art society, of how art is a solitary pursuit, but the society provides an avenue for creative support and friendship and of his impressions of the display.  Needless to say, he was very impressed!  And so were the other attendees.  Over the 5½ days of the exhibition we had over 700 people come to view the exhibition, most of whom voted in the People’s Choice Competition and 16 of them decided to join the society.

So, we are looking forward to seeing lots of new members work in our Awards Exhibition in October.

CONGRATULATIONS

We would like to take this opportunity to send our Congratulations to all those who sold paintings at the exhibition:  Ann Chadderton, Evelyn Davis,Val Evans, Kate O’Keeffe, Phillip Rochaix, Geraldine Simmons (2), Oksana Stevens and Lyn Stuart.  As a result,we reached our goal of selling, at least, 10% of the paintings on display.

Ist Place "Snow Gum"
2nd Place "If You Go Down to the Woods Today"

After all the People’s  Choice votes were tallied, Congratulations must, also, go to Annette McCrossin who was the winner of  both 1st  and 2nd  Place with her painting “Snow Gum and drawing “If You Go Down  to the Woods Today”.

Congratulations to all  who entered the exhibition.  We had so  many great comments about the high standard of the work.  You should all be very proud of yourselves  and the work you are producing.
