Kate has a background in science and a PhD in chemistry; she moved from the UK to Australia in 1999. Kate’s over whelming connection to the Australian landscape inspired her to start painting and in2016 she became a fulltime professional artist. Kate paints predominately landscapes in acrylics, but also paints portraits and has received some recognition as a finalist in both the Portia Geach Memorial award and the Archibald prize. Kate shows her work with a number of galleries, via online gallery Bluethumb and has a website and Artwork Archive presence. She recently won the People’s Choice Award in the 2023 Bluethumb Art Prize.

Kate’s art practice explores the play of light and colour using a mixture of simplicity and complexity in her works. Her process typically involves starting with broad, loose strokes in transparent paints, followed by more intuitive detailed work in more opaque paints focused on the negative space to bring the painting together.
Kate lives and works in the Northern Beaches suburb of Killarney Heights.
